Two weeks ago, on Friday the 9th of March 2018, our school held the DS Alumni Sports, wherein the former students, mostly from the batches of 2004 and 2006 re-lived the experience of being school students and had friendly yet competitive matches with peers. The atmosphere created was very enthusiastic and the people who appeared on this day were extremely pleased with the organisation of the event.
The group of students who volunteered to help for this event were the 10th grade batch of the year 2017-18, while the A-levels and Year 11 students were taking part in the activities along with the Alumni participants. The event consisted of four different teams: green, blue, red and black. The alumni participants were divided into the green, blue and red teams, while the black team was made up of A-levels and Year 11 students. Each team consisted of about 13-14 to players.
The sports played were football and cricket as well as a tele-game which was Tug of War. Despite of a few injuries here and there, the team spirit was kept pretty high. The matches were friendly, yet intense. Once the matches were over, the volunteers from Years 10 and 11 helped make some lemonade as refreshments, and the school bought boxes of food and goodies for them as well.
They later sat down and discussed how the school was back in their days, and how it has developed now to give us the best facilities to make our learning experiences better. Many of the alumni members are now successful in their jobs. One of them is an exceeding, professional golfer, and two others work at JW Marriot!
Towards the end of the day, music was played while everyone got together, danced, and created some beautiful memories. Many were seen becoming nostalgic and emotional as they didn’t want the day to end. But overall, every single person present at this event had a great day and a lot of fun, as the alumni reigned victorious, winning the trophy. We hope to have more Alumni Sports Meets as we see more alumni come back to school to re-live their favourite moments.
